In August 1953, my mother, sister (4 yrs), and I (6 yrs.) sailed from NYC to S. Hampton, Eng. to visit my mother's family. She was a WWII war bride and it was her first trip home since she came to the US after the War. There were several dignitaries on board -- Ambassador to the Argentine, Ambassador to Ceylon, and others. The New York Herald Tribune was on board to take their pictures. They spotted my mother in her white suit and her two blonde little girls in their pink and white dresses complete with white straw hats with flowers on top and took several pics of us which ended up being published in the paper. I remember being posed with mom -- they sat us up on the rail. I remember being terrified of falling overboard, but smiled for the camera. The paper sent beautiful 8 by 10 black and white pictures to my dad. I still have them. Wish I could see the article in the paper. I'm so happy someone has purchased the ship. I hope it sails again, and I want to be on it. Thnks.
